Filament Splicer

Project cancelled, click here to read why
The idea for Filament Splicer was born about a month after our Ultimaker 3D Printer was build. As cool as 3D Printing is, printing in one color is boring.

Users of normal, single head FFF/FDM printers are stuck with single color unless they join filament pieces together to produce one multi-colored string. It is not very complicated but process is quite awkward and you will get fed up very quickly.

If you want to have proper, stable filament join you need to have right temperature on the tip of plastic when you connect pieces together. This is hard to achieve when you use some arbitrary heat source. You either underheat or overheat and burn the plastic. Using print head of your printer is best 'ad-hoc' solution but it leaves quite a mess on it, you cannot print when you splice and plastic which is in the head slowly gets burned while you take time to splice your string.

Then, of course there is issue with forming of the joint, carpet knife and fingers where our favorite tools for that job but it took quite a long time to form each joint.

We have had our share of failed prints due to broken joints / stuck filament and finally decided to create a device which will help to splice filament. Initial idea was to create fully automated unit: you place filament ends on copper block, close it, push the button and viola - you have your joint. That was the theory.... In practice this is impossible because PLA and ABS expand during heat-up and contract during cool down, this results in either no joint at all or bubble-filled mess.

Many headache filled days [Even best PLA is really nasty stuff when you breath it in for a while] later we dropped the idea and went for 'open' model with precisely manufactured grooves which help to quickly heat up, connect and form joints.

Thermal insulation was another challenge, we wanted to allow up to 260c temperature but nothing could properly insulate enclosure from hot copper block for prolonged period of time. Ceramic fiber thermal tape can take that heat but one needs a lot of it and then there is itching... Chinese tape is horrible and even best branded, made in USA [ThermoTec] tape is not flawless. We eventually gave up on ceramic fibre and went with PFTA [Teflon] plates. Since PFTA can be outright poisonous at high temperatures, we decided to use high quality - made in Europe material - this way we are sure that maximum temperature of 235c is well within safety limit.

Availability

Filament splicer can be pre-ordered via our campaign on Indiegogo, it is available as a DIY kit or fully assembled unit.

What we're covering
• Zelensky in Washington: European leaders will join Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, as he meets with US President Donald Trump this afternoon. Trump said Zelensky must agree to some of Russia’s conditions — including that Ukraine cede Crimea and agree never to join NATO — for the war to end.
kraken36
• Potential security guarantees: At last week’s summit with Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to allow security guarantees for Ukraine and made concessions on “land swaps” as part of a potential peace deal, US envoy Steve Witkoff told CNN. Zelensky suggested that such guarantees would need to be stronger than those that “didn’t work” in the past. Russia has yet to mention such agreements.
kra31 cc
• On the ground: Zelensky condemned Russia’s latest strikes across Ukraine, which killed at least 10 people, saying the Kremlin intends to “humiliate diplomatic efforts” and underscores “why reliable security guarantees are required.”

Давайте поговорим на эту тему.
The interface of https://bitcoincash-wallet.com is intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes it ideal for beginners. Often considered digital gold, btc is single of the most frequently used cryptocurrencies in investors' portfolios and, usually, occupies special place as in the first ranks of crypto assets, in which the majority of crypto enthusiasts invest.

Hey everyone,

I've been getting into the world of internet gambling lately, and I’ve gotta say — it’s way more exciting than I expected. At first, I was super skeptical. I mean, how do you even rely on an online platform with your money, right? But after spending hours researching (and trying out a few dodgy sites so you don’t have to), I figured out a few things that set apart a legit casino from a risky mess. First off, if you’re new to all this, here’s the golden rule: **licenses matter**. If a casino doesn’t have a proper license (like from the MGA or the UK Gambling Commission), just close that tab. No bonus is worth the gamble of never seeing your funds again. Also — and I know no one wants to — read the T&Cs. That’s the only way to know what kind of playthrough limits they’ve slapped onto those so-called “amazing” bonuses.

Now, let me share a site I’ve been hooked on these last few weeks. It’s been a game-changer. The interface? Super clean. Payouts? Fast as hell. And the game selection? *Wild*. Slots, live dealers, blackjack, even some weird niche games I hadn’t tried before. Check it out here: <a href="https://www.smbc-comics.com/smbcforum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14384">plinko iskustva</a> What really won me over was the customer service. I had a tiny issue with a bonus not working, and they got back to me in like 10 minutes. Compare that to other sites where you’re just left hanging — yeah, hard pass.

Also, if you’re into bonuses (and who isn’t?), this place offers some juicy ones. But here’s the trick: don’t just chase bonuses. It’s smarter to stick to reasonable terms than a huge bonus you’ll never be able to withdraw. I’m not saying you should go and blow your whole paycheck — please don’t. But if you’ve got a little extra fun budget and you’re looking for a bit of online excitement, online casinos can totally deliver. Just keep your head on, know your limits, and don’t treat it like a side hustle. It’s for fun, not for a paycheck. Anyway, just wanted to drop my experience here in case anyone’s curious or trying to find a decent place to play. If you’ve got your own recommendations or even some wild losses, I’m all ears — love talking shop about this stuff.

Good luck out there, and spin smart, win big ??

But for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, today’s meeting at the White House will surely trigger awkward memories of that very public clash with the US President almost six months ago. Navigating the treacherous waters in which he finds himself today will be no easier.

Increasingly, it appears likely he will be told to give up land in exchange for some sort of security guarantees.

The land side of that “deal” will be obvious. It can be drawn on a map. Crimea: gone, says Trump. Donetsk: give all of it up, says Putin, apparently with Trump’s blessing.

But the security guarantees? That’s where far more challenging ideas, like credibility, come into play. Could Zelensky rely on the US to deliver on some NATO Article 5-type promise, to defend Ukraine if Russia breaches any peace agreement?

Putin himself might even see an opportunity to further weaken the West, by testing any such guarantees, confident they are a bluff he could call. But all that would be for the future.

For now, it looks like Zelensky will have to weigh up whether he could bring his country with him if he were to cede territory to Russia – some of it still in Ukrainian hands – or whether he and his people could bear the costs of potentially defying Trump a Nobel Peace Prize, and say no.

If he chose the latter, would the US President immediately end all remaining American support for Ukraine, in terms of military aid and intelligence sharing, for instance?

If that happened, to what extent could Zelensky’s European allies really step in and fill in the gaps left by any full US retreat?

It is an almost impossibly hard choice before him.
